Il a été créé en 1973 en l'honneur du dernier éditeur du magazine "Astounding Science Fiction", connu actuellement sous le nom de "Analog", et qui géra cette revue de 1937 à sa mort en 1971. Contrairement aux deux autres prix qui sont décernés par plusieurs milliers de votants, le Campbell est délivré par un petit comité qui discute des meilleurs romans de l'année pour arriver à un choix consensuel. |
